Curriculum Vitae

Galina started her musical training when she was seven years old. After finishing at the Music Middle School in Bender, Moldova, where she studied violin, she continued her violin studies at the S. Neaga Music College, Kishinev, Moldova, graduating with a Performer's Diploma, which qualified her as a Music School Teacher, Orchestra Artist. She then found employment in an orchestra with the National Opera of Moldova where she successfully worked four years.

She was accepted as a student of the Theatrical Faculty of the National University of Arts in Moscow, Russia. Ending her study with a grade of “perfect.” She was then accepted to the G. Musicescu State Institute of Arts, Kishinev, Moldova, where she studied singing taking lessons from the National Actress of the Soviet Union, Tamara Aleoshina. She also took master-classes with Penka Gekova (Bulgaria). She graduated with a Performer's Diploma and was qualified as a Teacher, Concert Singer and Opera Artist. She then gained employment with a troupe of soloists of the National Opera of Moldova in dramatic soprano parts. Galina also continued to study singing with Maya Vinogradskaya from Russia, conductor Gheorghe Victor Dumanescu from Romania and conductor Mihail Sechkin from Ukraine. With their assistance recordings of arias were made of: Abigaille of Verdi's Nabucco, Aida Aida, Leonora Il Trovatore, Countess of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. These tapes were featured on Gold Fund Moldova's Radio and TV network. During this period Ms. Bauer (Grini) won a prize at the Second Solomia Krushelnitska International Competition for Opera Singers, November 1994, Lviv, Ukraine. At the Competition she sang Nedda in Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci. During her work with the National Opera of Moldova, Ms. Bauer took part in tours of: Bulgaria, Italy, France, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Ukraine where she sang soprano in opera performances and concert programs. Among her favourites operatic roles are: Turandot in Puccini's Turandot, Santuzza, Lola in Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana, Lisa in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades, Zemfira in Rachmaninov's Aleco , and Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen.

Galina immigrated to the United States in 2000. She subsequently graduated with the Post-Masters Performer’s Certificate Diploma from Northern Illinois University, De Kalb, Illinois, where she studied with Nancy Henninger. In May, 2008 Galina Bauer graduated with the Doctor of  Musical Arts in Voice Performance Diploma from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
